Abstract
The Consumer Tendency Index (ITK) is an indicator of the latest economic developments produced by the Central Bureau of Statistics through the Tendency Survey of Consumers (STK). ITK is a composite index of household perceptions regarding consumer economic conditions and consumption behavior on the economic situation in the current quarter and forecasts for the coming quarter. STK began to be conducted in West Java in 2011 with the number of samples every quarter as many as 2,560 households. The Tendency Index of Consumers (ITK) in West Java in the second quarter of 2013 amounted to 108.19 means that consumer economic conditions in the second quarter of 2013 increased from the previous quarter. Similarly, the level of consumer optimism is also higher when compared with the first quarter-2013 (ITK value of 104.14). Improved consumer economic conditions are driven by increased household incomes. In addition, improving consumer economic condition in the second quarter of 2013 was also caused by the absence of influence of inflation on consumption (index value of 106.25). The value of ITK in West Java in the third quarter of 2013 is estimated at 111.71, meaning that consumer economic condition is expected to improve. With the level of consumer optimism is also predicted higher than the second quarter of 2013.
