The number of agricultural households in 2013 was 3,058,612 households, food crops sub-sector 2,492,459 households, horticulture 1,255,717 households, plantations 782,936 households, farms 1,191,661 households, fisheries 322,207 households and forestry 1,073 .535 households. The number of smallholder farm households in Jawa Barat Province in 2013 was 2,298,193 households or 75.61 percent of the farmers' households, decreasing by 1,203,674 households or 34.37 percent down compared to 2003. Number of farmers who work in agriculture sector as many as 3,617,332 people, mostly in the food crops sub-sector of 2,856,482 people and the smallest in fisheries subsector fishing activities of 26,282 people.
