Abstract

August 2009, CPI of Jawa barat (CPI 2007 = 100) covering 7 cities of Bandung City, Cirebon City, Tasikmalaya City, Bekasi City, Bogor City, Sukabumi City and Depok City experienced an inflation of 0.58 percent. Thus the seven months during the year 2009 (January-August) there was inflation of 0.81 percent, successive monthly inflation in January 2009 deflation of 0.28 percent next February 2009 and March 2009 inflation respectively by 0.08 percent and 0.20 percent, April again deflation of 0.23 percent and the last four months of May, June, July and August respectively inflation of 0.02 percent, 0.06 percent, 0.38 percent and 0.58 percent . Over the last twelve months or "year on year" inflation (August 2009 to August 2008) inflation stood at 2.16 percent. In August 2009, five expenditure groups experienced inflation, the highest in the education, recreation & sports category by 1.52 percent followed by the foodstuff group 1.40 percent, the health group 0.64 percent, the finished food, drinks, cigarette & tobacco group 0 , 59 percent and the transport, communication & financial services group 0.08 percent, while the other two expenses experienced deflation ie clothing and housing, water, electricity, gas & fuel group respectively by 0.18 percent and 0.02 percent percent.
